WORCESTER 'S MARKETING CAMPAIGN

BUDGET SUMMARY INFORMATION

EXPENDITURES
Yotal Expenditures

$315,000.00 $ 0.00 $ 0.00
$315,000.00 $ 0.00 92000 $ 0.00

Due to budget constraints, the Marketing Campaign Program and funds
Convention Visitors Bureau were eliminated for fisca12005.

FISCAL 2005 BUDGET OVERVIEW

for the

Expenditures:
It is important to note that the Marketing Campaign had no funding budgeted in fiscal
2004. On March 16, 2004, the Worcester City Council approved funding for the Worcester
Marketing Corporation in the amount of $100,000 from the application fees the city
charges for the HUD 108 Loan Guarantees attributed to the new Hilton Garden Hotel.
There was also $50,000 in unexpended funds from the Marketing Campaign's fiscal 2003
budget that were approved for funding in fisca12004.
The fiscal 2005 budget has no funding allocated for the Worcester Marketing Campaign.
Any funding towards Marketing will again need to come from outside sources other than
operating revenues for fisca12005.

Marketing Plan
A detailed marketing plan was presented to the Manager and the City Council, and
the first steps were implemented by the Marketing Corp. and Marketing Team.

External Community and Media Relations
Numerous news accounts and PR stories have run in Boston and national media
including the Worcester Common Outlets, commuter rail, the Worcester Ice Cats,
higher education, information technology, and biomedical business advantages.
However, much has to be done to increase the news releases and media presentations.

Local Community Promotional Activities
Continued to assist in providing support to the many City programs and projects
including the NCAA Division 1 Hockey Tournament, Worcester Ice Cats, First
Night, parades, business expansions and other special events.

CITY OF WORCESTER FISCAL 2005 ANNUAL BUDGET

Page 2
